I am Pregnant: My Pregnancy Story

My name is Lindsay and I am pregnant with my first child at 33.  I am certainly no expert when it comes to child birth, being pregnant or hormones, but I am learning fast! The day I found out I was pregnant was from a little stick that screamed at me  “You are pregnant!” (followed shortly by two more sticks that showed my fate quicker than I thought possible).  Turns out, this would begin my education about hormones specifically human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).  hCG is what tells us if we are pregnant or not.  It also may be the culprit for other symptoms of pregnancy! Today I am 9 weeks and 6 days pregnant and am increasingly more concerned about morning sickness (or all day and night sickness).  No one knows what really causes it but many believe that hormones are to blame.

Some of the reasons for this awful symptom could be:

•hCG levels rising rapidly
•Estrogen levels rising rapidly
•An enhanced sense of smell

The only think I know, is that I want to be a part of the group of women who start to feel relief at week 14! I also want to be part of a group of women who talk and learn about pregnancy and hormones together. Join me as I chronicle my pregnancy. Share your story and let’s talk.

  1. Although many years ago, I remember that feeling! Mine was the urge to eat (mentally thinking I needed to nourish the baby growing inside of me) and then feeling sick.
